Converting Office Mix Files to MP4

Microsoft will cease to offer Office Mix on May 1, 2018. Any content developed within Mix will be deleted from their servers. If you have created course content using Office Mix please use the following steps convert and move your content to MediaSpace.

Once your Mix content has been migrated to MediaSpace, Office Mix should never be used again. Please contact its@regis.edu for instructions on how to load the MediaSpace screen capture tool to your desktop. MediaSpace is now the recommended software to replace Office Mix for content development.

Part 1: Saving Office Mix presentations to MP4

  1. Open the PowerPoint used to create the original Mix presentation.
  2. Click the Mix tab in the toolbar ribbon.
  3. Select either of the two following methods for exporting existing Mix presentations to MP4 video

Method 1: Using Export to Video

  1. Cleck Export to Video (it may request to login to Office 365)
  2. For Quality, select Internet and DVD
  3. Save to a location on your computer
  4. Be patient! The export process may take several minutes to complete. Keep an eye on the progress toolbar

Method 2: My Mixes (this method may be faster)

  1. Locate the Mix file and click the Download Video button.
  2. When the presentation begins, right click and select "Save video as".
  3. Be patient! The export process may take several minutes to complete. Keep an eye on the progress toolbar

Part 2: Loading converted videos into MediaSpace

  1. Go to the Regis MediaSpace website
  2. Log in with your RegisNET credentials
  3. In the upper right corner, click Add New
  4. Select Media Upload
  5. Select an MP4 file to upload
  6. Adjust the title as necessary to identify your video
  7. It is recommended to add a few tags to assist users when searching for your presentation, such as course number and your first and last name
  8. IMPORTANT: set the privacy to UNLISTED.
  9. SAVE
  10. Go to Media
  11. Select Share
  12. Copy the URL provided in the Link to Media Page field
  13. Paste the URL into the course master and maintenance shells, replacing the Office Mix link.
